Background of the Study
Accidents are a common occurrence in various workplace settings, ranging from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. First aid training equips employees with the skills needed to respond effectively to injuries or medical emergencies in the workplace, thereby reducing the severity of accidents (Akinyemi & Bawa, 2023). In Kaduna State, first aid training programs in workplace settings have not been comprehensively evaluated for their impact on accident response. The ability of workers to administer first aid can significantly reduce the risk of further injury and contribute to faster recovery.
Statement of the Problem
Inadequate first aid training in many workplaces in Kaduna State can lead to delayed medical intervention and worsened outcomes in the event of accidents. Although some organizations provide first aid training, the scope, effectiveness, and impact of these programs are unclear.
Objectives of the Study
1. To assess the availability and quality of first aid training programs in workplaces in Kaduna State.
2. To evaluate the impact of first aid training on accident response in the workplace.
3. To identify barriers to effective first aid training in workplace settings.
Research Questions
1. What is the current state of first aid training in workplaces in Kaduna State?
2. How does first aid training influence accident response in the workplace?
3. What are the key challenges affecting the delivery of first aid training in workplaces?
Research Hypotheses
1. First aid training is not widely available or adequately delivered in workplaces in Kaduna State.
2. Workplace first aid training positively impacts the effectiveness of accident response.
3. Barriers such as lack of resources or time hinder the delivery of effective first aid training in workplaces.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The study will focus on various workplace settings in Kaduna State, including manufacturing, healthcare, and service industries. Limitations may include variations in training quality, participation rates, and organizational resources.
